abstract = {Petri nets are used to formally model the behavior of systems. However, when these systems dynamically change, e.g., due to context dependence, modeling gets complex and cumbersome since Petri nets are low-level and can not express dynamic changing parts. Expressing dynamically changing parts of the system directly within Petri nets increases the clarity and allows for modeling complex, context dependent, systems. While various approaches can be found in the literature, their integration into the Petri net ecosystem is often not considered. This restricts the available tools and analysis techniques to those, which can handle that custom net type. We present adaptive Petri nets, an extension to Petri nets, which directly expresses variability within the net. Our approach integrates well with other Petri net extensions, such as colored tokens, inhibitor arcs or hierarchy. Most importantly, it is possible to convert an adaptive Petri net to a semantically equivalent Petri net with inhibitor arcs. This work presents the formalism of adaptive Petri nets, how they can be flattened to Petri nets with inhibitor arcs and their graphical representation. The feasability and usability is demonstrated on two examples that are modeled, flattened and analyzed.},

abstract = "Robots come out of the cage. Soon, it will be possible to
interact with free-standing robots along an assembly line or
in a manufacturing workshop (robotic co-working). New
sensitive robot arms have appeared on the market that slow
down or stop when humans enter their context, which creates
rich opportunities for collaboration between human and
robots. But how to program them? This paper contributes an
architectural design pattern to engineer software for robotic
co-working with world-oriented modelling (WOM). We argue that
robotic co-working always has to take place in smart rooms
tracking the movements of humans carefully, so that the
robotic system can automatically adapt to their
actions. Because robotic co-working should be safe for humans,
robots, and their work items, the robots should enter safe
states before harmful encounters happen. Based on the safety
automata in the style of Haddadin, we suggest to engineer software
for the smart rooms of human-robotic co-working with an
explicit world model, an automaton of the world's states, and
a software variant space, a software variant family, which are
related by a total activation mapping. This construction has
the advantage that the world model is split off the software
system to make its construction simpler, avoiding if-bloated
code. Also, proofs about the entire smart system can be split
into a proof about the world model and a proof obligation for
the software variant space. Therefore, we claim that
world-oriented modelling (WOM) simplifies the development of
robotic co-working applications, leveraging the principle of
separation of concerns for improved maintainability and
quality assurance.",

abstract = {{Of key importance for metamodelling are appropriate modelling
formalisms. Most metamodelling languages permit the development
of metamodels that specify tree-structured models enriched with
semantics like constraints, references and operations, which extend the
models to graphs. However, often the semantics of these semantic constructs
is not part of the metamodel, i.e., it is unspecified. Therefore, we
propose to reuse well-known compiler construction techniques to specify
metamodel semantics. To be more precise, we present the application
of reference attribute grammars (RAGs) for metamodel semantics and
analyse commonalities and differences. Our focus is to pave the way for
such a combination, by exemplifying why and how the metamodelling
and attribute grammar (AG) world can be combined and by investigating
a concrete example - the combination of the Eclipse Modelling
Framework (EMF) and JastAdd, an AG evaluator generator.}},

abstract = {The workflow management systems domain today is completely fragmented.
For each purpose various solutions with different specializations
exist. Even for standardized process languages, many different extensions
and engines exist. If new requirements, domains or standards emerge,
the engines have to be adopted. In this paper, we want to show how
a workflow engine can be designed to support different workflow languages
and different domains - an extensible multi-purpose workflow engine.
Our approach for this kind of engine is based on a workflow net engine
that allows us to support most of the existing workflow languages.
To support different tasks of different specifications, we integrated
object roles in our engine. This extension of the object-oriented
paradigm allows flexible runtime adaptations and extensions. Thus,
we are able to add new domain specific functions to our engine at
runtime, even if the original process language does not support them.},

abstract = {The particular benefit of cloud computing is the simple scalability
of large applications, and many companies have already decided to
use the cloud for their infrastructures. An enterprise IT infrastructure
often includes a workflow management system. In a cloud, various
workflow engines can coexist, each with its specific functional responsibility.
A central instance is in charge of distributing process fragments
without causing high technical or economic costs. The derivation
of cost functions, the determination of the fragments to be executed
on the respective engines with minimal costs, is a complex issue,
especially if various processes have to be executed simultaneously.
This paper approaches the problem of delegating an entire process
to a distributed infrastructure and shows how it can be solved efficiently
with neural networks. To ensure computation performance when handling
various neural networks, we use the MapReduce framework. The distributed
computation capability of MapReduce can help process the mass of
training data generated by system monitoring in the networks. So,
the performance usage in the central instance is decreased and the
entire system is able to scale with the growing infrastructure.},

abstract = {Predictive Maintenance is a promising maintenance strategy. However,
existing solutions are isolated from enterprise systems and limited
to specific applications. A predictive maintenance framework that
integrates the diversity of existing techniques for equipment failure
predictions and that incorporates data both from machine level and
the upper enterprise level is still missing. We envision the development
of a predictive maintenance framework that is characterized by a
high degree of automation and the possibility to use state-of-the-art
prediction methods. We attempt to create an open architecture that
enables third-party suppliers to integrate their specialized prediction
components into our framework. In this paper we analyze the requirements
and introduce the initial architecture associated with such a predictive
maintenance framework, which is being realized in a joint project
with SAP Research.},
